some people are born with way too much talent.
you know the ones…
everything they do is just super good.

i love telling people who are talented just how good they are,
’cause really why not?
i’m sure they don’t see themselves that way all the time,
and i also think they don’t get told enough.
i think there is often a feeling that they must already know.
but, anyone who knows creative types knows that their confidence is easily challenged,
sometimes a ‘pat on the back’ is all that is needed,
a little reminder that what you do is not just good…it is super great!

which brings me to kirsten johnstone aka assemblage.
kirsten is not only incredibly talented,
[if you are not familiar with her work then you need to be, check it out here]
she is one of the loveliest people I have come to know.
i feel so fortunate to have connected with her,
and love the idea that our creative loves have connected our paths.

here is kirsten,

is there some one you know that needs a reminder that they are fabulous?
really, don’t just think that they know just because your thinking it – tell them!
you really don’t know just how much you’ll make their day.

what is it about new shoes?
they make you want get out and do stuff.
it’s true, if you really stop and think about it.
they make you feel pretty good. they put an extra spring in your step.
or is that just me?

i remember first hearing these lyrics by paolo nutini:
“Hey, I put some new shoes on,
And suddenly everything is right,
I said, hey, I put some new shoes on and everybody’s smiling,
It so inviting,
Oh, short on money,
But long on time,
Slowly strolling in the sweet sunshine,
And I’m running late,
And I dont need an excuse,
’cause I’m wearing my brand new shoes.”
I remember thinking how sweet it was to write about wearing a new pair of shoes…
i’m a girl who notices the small stuff,
this is the kind of stuff that rings my bells.

so if i haven’t completely lost you already read on…

i bought elijah new shoes recently;
i got the same feeling when he put on his new shoes,
who wouldn’t, the guys that make these refer to their shoes as
“putting kisses on the feet of little ones”[love],
so I thought i’d document their first journey
